August Overview 2014

10400851_791107080951937_5375033593041912420_n  Everyday my staff and I see kids who are starving. They might be starving for food, for love, for acceptance, for hope but they are starving. Everyday we are in the ghettos of our community bringing each of the things kids are starving for to them. July was a busy month here at Stay Focused Ministries. We have being going into neighborhoods daily to tell hurting children, teens and families that God loves them. We have made bonds with these children and families that will last a life time. The lessons we have taught the children and the love we show them has touched their lives and changed them. We took a group of our students to the lake as a reward for positive behavior. I was also able to take a group of students to the Summer Sounds at the Hollywood Bowl where they were taught cultural awareness and were able to spend time out of town bonding with staff and other positive role models. We are looking forward to the month of August knowing thousands will be touched by the Lord. Matthew 19:14 says “Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
This August thousands of kids will be heading back to school but will all of them be properly prepared?
Many families in our community are struggling to keep food on the table and going back to school can be a stressful time. Many children are going to school without the proper supplies they need such as backpacks, paper, pencils, art supplies etc. and it is hindering them. 10527909_786753258053986_198245112500951772_nLast year Stay Focused collected over 800 backpacks and distributed to those in need. This year Stay Focused wants to meet the needs of the students in our community. Stay Focused’s goal is to provide 1000 students with backpacks stuffed with paper, pencils, art supplies and everything they need to start off the year strong and ready to make the grade. We need your help! We will be doing a backpack and school supply giveaway in Bakersfield at the Colony Square Apartments, partnering to for another giveaway at the Kern County Fairgrounds, other areas of Kern County and in Santa Maria, CA. We are still collecting backpacks, school supplies and monetary donations.   Luke 4:43 “And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.” The Lord has called me to call thousands to the altar of Grace and lead them to Christ. You, I, all of us have a purpose; some to pray, some to help at our outreaches and some to help

Partnership is valuable and on August 22nd we will be partnering with other churches and organizations to put together “The Experience.” This event is designed to bring the churches as well as community members together. This event will have special guest speakers, worship bands from throughout the city, and a full production drama.  The event will be called “The Experience” in hopes that thousands will experience Christ this day. The Experience will be held at The Harvey Auditorium, (Bakersfield High School), located at 1241 “G” Street, on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. In 2009 I put our annual “One by One” rally, over 5000 people came and Stay Focused passed out 20 tons of groceries to those in need.
DSC_5970 This year “One by One” will October 25, 2014 we are hoping to be able to hand out 25 tons of groceries and bring thousands to Christ. It was heavy on my heart to do this event this year because so many in Kern County are starving not just for food but for love, hope, and a way out. We want to show them that their hopeless circumstances do not mean they have a hopeless future. This event takes hundreds to put on. Matthew 9:35-39 says “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and 10502148_784750978254214_5120406791537850490_nhealing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 3Then he said to his disciples, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” We need help more than ever with donations, volunteers and prayers. The groceries alone will cost over 12 thousand dollars. In 2009 every family was blessed above and beyond what they could imagine; we want 2014 to be nothing less. We continue to pray for you partner. I ask that you keep the ministry in your prayers. Thank you for your continued support.   God bless you abundantly, Manuel Carrizalez, Founder / President Stay Focused & Reach4Greatness Mentoring
