November Overview 2014

The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:14, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Can you picture it? Bakersfield, a city covered with knowledge of God’s glory, encountering God’s love, recognizing the greatness of His power then spreading His greatness across Kern County and to the ends of the world. 10436160_727038400715634_5160693127760734803_nHere is just a glimpse of what is happening in our city. On October 25, 2014 the One by One event took place at Mira Monte High School reaching 1200 individuals. Hundreds filled out commitment cards to receive Jesus as Lord. City officials, law enforcement and members from numerous car clubs received the gospel message. Before the event, 45 bikers from different car clubs and organizations rode through the city encouraging neighborhoods to “Say No to Meth and Heroin” and come to the event. There were over 80 volunteers and 21 resource booths that provided community services, information and giveaways. I want to thank you, Partner, for every single prayer, financial donation, volunteering your time and for your help making this event a huge success. Even if it was just for one family, it would have been worth it, but stories continue to keep coming into the office about families being restored and lives being touched by the power of God. 10731130_725471274205680_1646414733376281779_nThe head custodian was not supposed to come in on October 25th. He was covering for a co-worker. While he was working the event, he overheard the message and received Jesus as His Lord and Savior. One student and her mother in our T4C group mentoring program came to the event as volunteers and left encountering Jesus’ love as they cried tears of healing and freedom. Families were restored. Gang members received God’s love for them and their children received Christ. It was a powerful event. Thank you, Partner, for enabling us to continue the work that we have never strayed from: reaching hurting people and rebuilding broken dreams and broken lives. In Luke 14, there is a story of a wedding feast. When all who were invited were swayed by excuses, the master tells his servant in verse 23: “Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” Share His love. Go to your neighborhoods, your workplace, your school, the grocery store. “Compel them to come in.” You are empowered to live a Matthew 28:18-20 lifestyle. He is worthy of a house that is full. Let our hearts cry Revelation 4:11, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” God is faithful to enable us to empower students across Kern County to make positive choices. The last week of October was Red Ribbon Week, where students are encouraged to “Say No to Drugs.” Reach 4 Greatness inspired hundreds of students to “make their mark” at school assemblies at McKinley Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Frank West Elementary and McKee Middle School. On Oct. 11th Liz Carrizalez, my beautiful wife and Program Director of our organization was honored with a “Hidden Hero” Award at the Good Neighborhood Festival at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park for her dedication to see lives changed in our city. Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Every year we are blessed to hand out turkey dinners and baskets to hundreds in our city. This year, we are partnering with Bakersfield City School District for a Thanksgiving dinner at Williams Elementary on November 22nd. We are in need of turkeys, stuffing, potatoes, rolls, green beans and gravy for a traditional thanksgiving dinner. We are asking for your prayers, financial donations and volunteers for the event. Please call (661)322-4673 if you are able to donate or get involved. Partner, thank you for your support. We appreciate you and look forward to seeing you soon. 10441051_725469414205866_1067177019555654832_n   God bless you abundantly, Manuel Carrizalez, Founder & President, Stay Focused/Reach 4 Greatness Mentoring
