The Bible says in Luke 4:17-18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
I am honored and humbled to share with you that Stay Focused is expanding. We have partnered with Stop the Violence and National Brotherhood Association to open Dream Builders Resource Center, located at 1630 East 11th Street. We are “working together to keep the dream alive for individuals, families and the community.” Pray with us as we celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on October 14th. This satellite office allows Stay Focused to be directly in the heart of community violence to provide crisis response, intervention and hope to those in need. Dream Builders Resource Center will help families rebuild broken dreams and broken lives.
We are taking a step of faith in doing the One by One event. Last time we did was in 2009, but the Lord has commissioned us to do it again. We are asking for your support on October 25th at Mira Monte High School’s Football field.
Recent reports show Meth use has been on the rise in Kern County. People are hurting, but there is a Helper. Families are broken, but there is a Healer. People are lost, but there is a Savior. The One-by-One Event has been the cry of my heart, since the moment I encountered Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I committed that one-by-one, no matter their background or location or the cost, I would lead my city to know Jesus Christ. This is true for all of us: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go thereforeand make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20) Thank you, Partner, for standing with us to watch the power of God’s love transform lives and give hope so they can dream again. We cannot reach all of the hurting people without your help. We need your prayers and financial support. In 2009, the last One-by-One event, 2,000 people gave their hearts to Christ. We are believing for thousands to come to know God’s love for them. “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’” (Romans 10:13) (NKJV) If you would like to volunteer or donate, please contact the Stay Focused office at (661)322-HOPE(4673). Guest speakers include Evangelist Art Blajos (former Mafia member who has been speaking to youth and families for 30 years), Superbowl Champion Wendell Tyler (former LA Rams and SF 49ers running back) and musical entertainment will be provided by Bueno Band (former members of Malo).
I want to encourage you, Partner, that “You are the salt of the earth […] You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16) You are born to shine bright wherever you are called.
Reach 4 Greatness is back in Kern County schools encouraging and equipping youth at school assemblies, “Hope on Wheels” at Harding Elementary, “Thinking 4 Change” group mentoring at Pauly Elementary, and meeting hundreds of families at eight “Back 2 School” nights. We are getting ready for “Red Ribbon Week”, the “Say No to Drugs” campaign that hits schools every October. The One-by-One event will kick-off “Red Ribbon Week” school assemblies.
We want to thank you for catching the vision and running alongside the heart of Stay Focused. I pray fresh hope, joy and protection over you and your family. Never quit and never give up.
God bless you abundantly,
Manuel Carrizalez, Founder & President
